We Met While Camping...

Every summer, a group of 100 or so people go on a weekend camping trip in eastern Washington. On this trip, the main event is a Saturday float down the Yakima River in tubes, rafts, or whatever you have that floats. Josh went on this trip with a group of his friends, and Heather went with her roommate and his dog, Moses (Yes, Mo floated down the river in his own raft too!).

On Friday, when Josh was setting up his tent, he noticed a cute girl setting up her tent nearby. Josh introduced himself to Heather, and they instantly hit it off! They enjoyed the whole weekend together, and they have been floating on together ever since!

We Got Engaged While Surfing in San Diego....

Not one to wait around for something she wants, Heather decided she was going to propose to Josh. So, she took a ring making class for over a month, widdled the perfect band together, and planned a surprise trip to San Diego for Josh.

On the morning of Saturday, December 12, 2009 they headed out surfing on Pacific Beach. Heather had the ring she had made wedged in the boot of her wet suit. They came out of the water for a break and the timing was perfect -it had been raining all weekend, but the sun had broken out and the beach was empty except for them and a group of 25 or so curious sea gulls.

While sitting there trying to figure out a. how to get the ring out of her water-logged boot and b. what exactly she was going to say, Josh popped up on his knee, presented a beautiful, sparkly ring (that he had been wearing on his finger under his glove. Smart!!) and asked Heather if she would marry him.

Completely confused and thrown off, she started grumbling and digging in her boot. After a few moments (during which time Josh wondered if she was going to say yes) she presented a ring to him and said, "I was going to ask!!" At some point they both said yes, shared a few awkward moments, and wondered off in search of beer.
