Stuff to do in/around Seattle
Our Favorite Spots
Discovery Park (map)- best place to run/walk in Seattle! Walk the outer loop and/or down to the beach. Total escape! Get some tasty seafood at Chinook's on the way back. Delish!
Alki Beach (map)- Lots going on here in the summer. Great for walks along the water, people watching, and grabbing snacks/beverages. This is where we went on our first date. Swoone:)
West Seattle Water taxi - Hop on for the 12 minute crossing to W. Seattle from downtown or vice-versa. Stop in at the Alki Tavern for a brew or at Salty's if you're feeling fancy. Walk to Alki Beach or take a bus/shuttle down there.
"The Junction" - Downtown West Seattle (Map)basically. Lots of food, shops and bars to be enjoyed! We love Poggies(booze), Talaricos (huge pizza slices), The Matador (happy hour), and Than Brothers (Pho).
Our Favorite Dive Bars:
Poggies (W. Seattle. Map)- right in "downtown" West Seattle. A local favorite. I'm pretty sure some people have been going here daily/weekly for over 50 years :| Be sure to order your pull tabs by number, not name!
Tug Tavern (W. Seattle. Map)- Super sweet dive bar just about a mile away from our house and right across from Home Depot if you are in need of a nice sniff of building supplies. OH they have photohunt!
Linda's Tavern (Pike Place Mkt. Downtown Sea. Map)- go to the bar all the way to the back. Great views.
Kells Irish Pub (Pike Place Market. Map) - Live music nightly starting at 9pm.
Pike Place Brewery (Pike Place Market. Map) - lots of good beer. Heather recommends getting Kilt Lifter!
Our Favorite Food Places:
Thai Food - Buddah Ruska (W. Seattle. Map) and Mae Phim Thai (Downtown. Pioneer Square. Map)
Bakery Nouvaeu (W. Seattle. Map)- SO delicious. Get the Twice Baked Almond Croissant. MMMMMMMM
Talarico's (W. Seattle. Map) - HUGE awesome pizza slices.
Charlestown Cafe (W. Seattle. Map) - Classic diner. Great for breakfast.
The Pink Door (Pike Place Market. Map) - Highly suggest lunch here. Not only are the prices more reasonable than dinner, but they have a sweet rooftop deck with an awesome view.
Ipamema Grill ( Downtown Seattle. Map) - In the mood for a meat coma? Go here for lunch. All you can eat meat for $22.
Tacos Guaymas (Downtown. Map. W. Seattle. Map)- Get the chile verde wet burrito. So good!
Casualitas (Belltown. Downtown SEA. Map) - Amazing food. Get the chicken or pork sandwiches during happy hour.
Orient Express (SODO. Map)- Doesn't get better than eating Chinese food in old train cars. They have karaoke and such as well for those who actually enjoy being a public specticle.
Touristy Spots:
Pike Place Market (Map)- Check out the first Starbuck's ever (and the original logo. The mermaid's boobs are showing!), grab some Humbow @ Mee Sum (Map), see fish being tossed at the seafood market, and check out the gum wall in the alley by the Alibi Room (Map. A good place to stop for drinks).
Space Needle (Map) - An adult ticket to ride to the top is $17. The resturaunt is a bit pricy, but if you eat there you don't have to pay to go up to the top. If you subtract the $17 you would have paid to go up to the top from your dinner price, your dinner isn't very expensive afterall and the view can't be beat!
Seattle Art Museum Sculpture Park (Map) - Stroll through the sculpture park and follow the pathway along the waterfront through Myrtle Edwards Park. Totally relaxing and enjoyable!
